Highlights of the School Year

My decision to go back to school was one of the best decisions I've ever made. But without the experience I gained outside of school, it would have undoubtedly been even harder, and the decision maybe wouldn't have even been made. This year then, was, is, and will always be a good and positive year. Having been at school non-stop ever since the summer of 2008, I thought that the end of the year would be one of a relief, but I am finding that I am more wistful than I previously thought.  More than anything else, the motivation to go back was found while working long days at Excel, selling insurance for Combined, and making cold calls as a (unwitting) part of Amway under the guise of a psuedo-business, Quixtar. My focus though, was acquired when I started subbing for Newton schools. This helped me gain a sense of perspective on where I wanted to teach and the type of student I wanted to teach. Also, as a special ed. paraprofessional, I learned that I have a knack for SPED kids. Teaching is a great joy for me.
Though these things were the most notable changes in my life, a series of events have stood out in my memory. First, was our decision to move to the family farm in December. This move had been on our mind for some time, and we both feel that it was good for us simply because of the fact that we would always wonder what it would've been like. It was a good move and we'll miss the farm.
Now we are getting ready to move again, hopefully by July. If you want more info about the location, a good place to start is to go to my wiki I made (bookout.wikispaces.com). We aren't sure where we are going to move yet, and are researching houses that would be right for us. We'll be updating this blog so folks know. That's all for now.

Bookout Family Update 1.0

Gretchen and I have experienced many changes during the past few years. We have been married for 2 years, come August 11, and it still feels like we're in a wonderful,  never-ending honeymoon. Gretchen has endured many challenges during her first year as a Preschool Teacher and has been a wonderful influence among her kids and co-workers. This summer, I will work in Carbondale, KS as a History/Sped/Adaptive P.E. teacher.  We aren't sure where we will move to, but we have been in the process of finding a new home. It will be a very welcome change for us.  We'll make sure to update the blog when we have found a place, and appreciate any advice you would like to give!
